Hive Colab is seeking a dedicated and experienced Inclusion, Safeguarding, Gender & Child Protection Lead to ensure that all program activities are delivered with a strong focus on safety, equity, and inclusive participation. This role is critical in embedding safeguarding principles throughout the accelerator’s operations, upholding gender equity and child protection standards, and ensuring that all stakeholders, particularly vulnerable groups are protected, respected, and actively engaged. The successful candidate will work closely with program teams, implementing partners, and supported ventures to develop and monitor inclusive and protective systems that are practical, locally relevant, and aligned with national and international standards.Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive frameworks for inclusion, safeguarding, gender equity, and child protection across the program.
- Serve as the program’s safeguarding focal point, managing complaints, concerns, and reports with confidentiality and integrity.
- Lead capacity-building sessions for program staff, partners, and startups on safeguarding protocols, gender-responsive approaches, and child protection measures.
- Establish and maintain safe reporting mechanisms for program participants and beneficiaries.
- Monitor and report on safeguarding compliance and inclusion efforts, ensuring alignment with donor and legal requirements.
- Integrate inclusion metrics and gender-sensitive indicators into the program’s MEL system to guide design, implementation, and adaptation.
- Coordinate the development of incident response plans and ensure that response protocols are followed and documented.
- Provide technical guidance on inclusive product design and safe learning environments for EdTech ventures working with children and marginalized groups.
- Engage with national safeguarding networks, regulators, and child protection bodies to stay updated on best practices and legal obligations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Child Protection, Development Studies, Human Rights, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience working in inclusion, safeguarding, gender equality, or child protection, particularly within donor-funded or development programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Uganda’s legal and policy frameworks on child protection and gender-based violence.
- Strong facilitation, training, and compliance monitoring skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of emotional intelligence, integrity, and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multi-stakeholder teams.
