The Program Director/Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership and delivery of a 5-year accelerator program focused on scaling high-potential EdTech ventures across Uganda. This role requires strong program management skills, a results-driven approach, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of partners including startups, government, and ecosystem stakeholders.Key Responsibilities
Program Management & Execution
- Lead the full lifecycle of the 5-year accelerator program, including pre-acceleration, acceleration, and post-acceleration support phases.
- Ensure timely execution of activities such as venture onboarding, business support, milestone-based funding, mentorship, and impact reporting.
- Monitor startup performance, learner reach, and program-level outcomes across all cohorts.
Team Leadership
- Manage a high-performing team comprising business analysts, coaches, learning advisors, and operations staff.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure cohesive delivery and alignment with program goals.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, schools, regional hubs, and innovation partners.
- Represent the program at national and regional forums, ecosystem events, and collaborative platforms.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
- Oversee implementation of robust MEL systems to track program impact, learning outcomes, and startup growth.
- Lead quarterly reviews, annual reflections, and program adaptation based on data and feedback.
Visibility, Communications & Knowledge Sharing
- Support the communications team in producing reports, case studies, and content that highlights program progress and impact.
- Coordinate public events including Market Access Days, the Demo Day, Swarm Summit showcases, and alumni convenings.
Venture Support Oversight
- Ensure startups receive tailored support in business strategy, market access, learning science integration, and investment readiness.
- Oversee delivery of strategic clinics, peer learning, investor engagements, and mentorship activities.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in program management, entrepreneurship support, or startup ecosystem leadership.
- Proven track record of managing complex, multi-year donor-funded programs.
- Deep understanding of the innovation, technology, or education sectors in Africa.
- Strong leadership, team coordination, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Education, Development, Innovation).
